Hello, Pagers
If you’re new, welcome! You may have come from one of the four lovely accounts that recently mentioned Thirty-two Pages. I’ll list them below. You might like to subscribe if you haven’t already.

Anyway, back to the welcome. Thirty-Two Pages shares 3 newsletters a month on the 10th, 20th, and 30th. Every second newsletter is for paid subscribers and every second newsletter is free. Technically, this week is for paid subscribers.
Now, on to business. One Little Duck was officially launched on Tuesday with a fun storytime celebration at the Unley Library. (How great are public libraries? I continue to be amazed, even as a lifelong user. I’ll never stop loving them. They’re filled with books. Such incredible community spaces and they let everyone in for free! Just brilliant.) The launch was a joyful celebration and fully booked with over 130 attendees. I made the possibly foolish decision1 to disappear offline in the leadup to the official release of One Little Duck but luckily people came anyway, without me desperately promoting the event online.
I did spend some of my break considering my relationship with social media (as everyone on Substack seems to be doing of late) and how I might change a few habits but that’s a story for another day. Also, a story for another day — book launches. Why? How? And what? Stay tuned for that soon but for now, let’s just enjoy the photos. There’s also a special something at the end for paid subscribers.
Let’s start with Danny. Danny Snell, my amazing co-creator. This book started with an idea of his. (I’ve written a little bit about it here. There’s more to it but that’s a story for another day.) During the launch, Danny did an illustration demonstration and drew Mother Duck. Everyone loved it. Of course, they did. How amazing is it watching artists work? I’m jealous. I’ve written about how I’m happy writing and not illustrating, but if anything makes me question that conviction it’s live drawing. (You can read more about my thoughts on words and pictures here.)
