I really love your idea of critiquing as a way to kick-start your brain before writing and also to reassess your own work. I tend to binge on reading picture books prior to lifting my pen. Or sometimes i just begin writing. I also remember when you read your poem at retreat. Just shows the power of words, particularly in poetry, that can shortcut to our emotions, often touching unexpected nerves. x
So value your comments and yes, critique groups are worth gold.
